I just got my hair highlighted for the first time (one week ago)…I got full highlights. I am using a shampoo and conditioner recommended by my hair stylist for colored hair. But when I shower, my hair gets so matted that I can hardly get the shampoo in my hair! My hair gets slightly better when washing the conditioner out, but it’s a hassle to even get shampoo/conditioner in and I don’t think I am washing all my hair…what is this from, and especially what can I do about it?

i have very fine bleached hair and mine gets tangled sooooo easy. i slap on the conditioner, leave it for few mins then gently comb, with a wide tooth comb tho. im guessing you got long hair…try smoothing the shampoo gently over and just be gentle, if all else fails get it cut in a shorter style.
This is very normal. You can’t do anything about it in the shower. But before blow drying it or anything you should put a leave in conditioner in it to keep your highlighted hair from getting brittle.
Sounds like your hair has dried out. Get some Cholesterol Conditioner, and soak your hair in it, wrap it in a towel and let it sit for about 30 minutes, it worked wonders for me after I bleached and highlighted my hair. You can find it in the African American hair care section at Walmart, or Sally’s.
I have thick hair, but it gets oily easy, so I condition first, then shampoo. That may help you. Also, you can get a good conditioner for color treated hair like TRESemme, and it will work just as well. I use TRESemme or Dove.
